HJA in partnership with Russell Property Consultants (RPC) was appointed by South Gloucestershire Council to provide independent expert advice regarding future employment land requirements in the Filton Enterprise Area. This was specifically to consider whether the ambition and policy proposals for aerospace related employment uses at Filton remained realistic, logical and deliverable and whether the application proposals recently submitted for the former Filton Airfield site supported the Council’s aims.
Our work included a review of national and regional trends in the aerospace and advanced engineering sectors, consultation with local stakeholders in the aerospace sector, an assessment of the likely supply and demand of employment land in the area and recommendations to the Council as to how to address the submitted application.
HJA and RPC made a number of recommendations relating to the mix of employment uses which should be promoted at the site in response to the evidence. This led to a change in the application proposals and the application was subsequently approved in principle.
We commissioned Hardisty Jones, with Russell Property Consultants, to review landowner-led employment land proposals for the Filton Airfield Development and wider Filton Enterprise area. Their study has been both comprehensive and balanced in approach and presented to an agreed timetable. It has helped us to better understand local employment issues and market pressures and to advise the Planning Committee accordingly. In summary we were very satisfied with the conduct of the study.
